In a dream

I fell in love with you in a dream
You never let me in enough to know you
But my mind filled in the gaps
In the deepest slumber, the darkest night
In a glare of sunlight
You smiled and kissed me
And my world collapsed.

Hello, WordPress

After realising that I had four different semi-active, never-got-off-the-ground blogs on three different blogging platforms, I decided it was time to woman up, merge them, and do it properly. Or at least as properly as I have time for right now. Over the next few days I’ll be importing some back-dated blog posts and generally tidying up the place. Hopefully come May, I’ll have more time on my hands to commit to Sirens & Muses and post every day.

I woke up this morning before my alarm, with the sun shining in my window. Always a good sign for my mood and creativity (both the sun and the waking up early). Of course, college will take up the majority of my day. But I’m not afraid of college work anymore. I faced it head-on on the battlefield this weekend, and have discovered that it’s mostly just talk, and will bend to my will eventually, if not easily.

I can feel summer on the horizon…

Chocolate, rhubarb cake, and dSLR…

It’s been an exciting day in a pretty uneventful manner. Breakfast of porridge and Easter eggs; a few hours spend tearing my hair out over college assignments; then a few hours messing around with my dad’s dSLR, resulting in a couple hundred photographs of my cat (!).

The whole photography thing is not completely new to me, as I had a fairly decent SLR before digital ones existed. I was about 10 years old at the time though, and functioned entirely through auto functions, so I’m experiencing the fun of messing with aperture and shutter speed and whatnot. I’ll be posting a few on here once I’ve set up the software on my laptop.

My photographs are still obviously very limited, as I’m very new to this, but I’m finding that my old love for it is being rekindled. As always, Bumble is serving as my main subject. At least these days I won’t be going through role after role of film!

My day was finally wrapped up with a bown of rhubarb upside-down-cake and custard. Yum. Gotta love Easter.

Easter is coming…

So time to brace myself for the baragge of chocolate. I think I can handle it.

College has essentially taken over my life, so the next four weeks of my life are shaping up to be a haze of assessments, group projects, lectures and a lot of time sitting in front of my laptop. It’s a lonely old existence, but at least the end is nigh – my thesis over the summer will, by comparison, leave me swathes of free time during which to do photography classes, learn ballet, and meet the love of my life while walking my cousin’s new puppy.

Or, well, I might have some form of life at least.

And I might take a few photographs with an actual real camera. In the meantime, I’ll bow my head and battle my way through the storm, hoping that come May, we might have some more of the ridiculous weather we had back in March.
